Yokohama, Japan is a vibrant and bustling city located just south of Tokyo. It holds a special place in our hearts, as it is my wife Kiyoko’s hometown and we were married there in the Tsurumi Presbyterian Church.

One of the must-see sites in Yokohama is the Landmark Tower, which is the tallest building in Japan. The tower offers a stunning view of the city, and we enjoyed watching the sunset from the observation deck. Another popular attraction is the Ramen Museum, where visitors can learn about the history of ramen and sample styles of ramen from everywhere in Japan.

Yokohama’s Chinatown is another must-visit destination in the city, and it holds a special place in our hearts as well. It is one of the largest Chinatowns in the world, and it is known for its colorful streets lined with traditional Chinese lanterns and bustling markets filled with vendors selling a wide variety of goods.
We enjoyed exploring the narrow alleyways and trying some of the local street food, such as steamed buns, fried rice, and dumplings. The aroma of the food wafting through the air was simply mouth-watering, and we couldn’t resist trying a little bit of everything.

One of our favorite spots in Yokohama is the Minato Mirai area, which is a bustling waterfront district filled with restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues. We enjoyed strolling along the boardwalk and taking in the views of the city skyline, as well as visiting the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, which is a popular shopping and dining destination.

Another highlight of our visit to Yokohama was the Sankeien Garden, which is a beautiful traditional Japanese garden filled with ponds, bridges, and historic buildings. We spent hours wandering through the garden and admiring the stunning natural scenery.

Yokohama is a special place for us and we feel lucky to have been able to experience its unique blend of traditional Japanese culture and modern urban life. From its stunning waterfront views to its delicious cuisine and rich history, it is a city that has something to offer for everyone. For us, it feels like home.
