The Hotel New Grand in Yokohama, Japan is a historic hotel with a rich and fascinating past. We had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful hotel during a trip to Japan, and we were immediately struck by its elegant architecture, luxurious amenities, and rich history.
The hotel was first opened in 1927, and it has played an important role in Japan’s history ever since. It was the site of the first Western-style ballroom in Japan, and it has hosted many high-profile events and guests over the years, including the legendary General Douglas MacArthur.
During our stay, we learned more about the hotel’s history through the various displays and exhibits throughout the hotel. We were particularly fascinated by the story of General MacArthur, who stayed at the hotel during the Allied Occupation of Japan after World War II. His suite has been preserved and is now a popular attraction for guests and visitors.
Aside from its rich history, the Hotel New Grand is also known for its luxurious amenities and world-class service. We were impressed by the spacious and well-appointed guest rooms, each with stunning views of the city or the bay. The hotel also features several world-class restaurants and bars, including the elegant Le Normandie French Restaurant, which serves classic French cuisine with a modern twist.
One of our favorite memories from our stay at the Hotel New Grand was enjoying afternoon tea in the hotel’s beautiful garden. The garden is a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city, and it was the perfect place to relax and unwind after a busy day of exploring.
