Shiga is a beautiful prefecture located in the Kansai region of Japan. We had the opportunity to visit this area and were immediately struck by its picturesque scenery and rich cultural heritage.

One of the highlights of our trip was visiting Lake Biwa, the largest freshwater lake in Japan. We took a leisurely boat ride across the tranquil waters and admired the stunning views of the surrounding mountains. We also explored the nearby Hikone Castle, a well-preserved fortress that has stood for over 400 years.

In addition to its natural beauty, Shiga is also known for its delicious cuisine. We sampled some of the local specialties, including Omi beef, a high-quality beef that is renowned for its tenderness and flavor. We also tried funazushi, a unique type of sushi made with fermented carp that has been a local delicacy for over 1,300 years.

But what really stood out to us about Shiga was the warmth and hospitality of its people. We were greeted with friendly smiles everywhere we went and felt truly welcomed. We had the opportunity to participate in a traditional tea ceremony, where we learned about the intricate customs and rituals involved in preparing and serving tea. It was a memorable and humbling experience that gave us a deeper appreciation for Japanese culture.
