Enryaku-ji is a magnificent temple complex located on the summit of Mount Hiei in the Shiga prefecture of Japan and has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Founded in 788 by the monk Saicho, Enryakuji is one of the most important and influential temples in Japanese history.
