Sapporo is a vibrant city in Japan’s Hokkaido region that offers a unique blend of culture, cuisine, and winter festivities. We had the pleasure of exploring this beautiful city, and it was a truly unforgettable experience.

One of the highlights of Sapporo is the Yuki Matsuri, or Snow Festival, which takes place every February. The festival features stunning snow and ice sculptures, which are illuminated at night, making for a magical and unforgettable experience. We highly recommend visiting Sapporo during the Yuki Matsuri to witness this incredible winter wonderland.

The food culture in Sapporo is also a highlight of any visit. The city is known for its delicious seafood, especially its fresh and succulent crabs. One Michelin-rated restaurant that we loved in Sapporo is Sushi Miyakawa, which offers some of the best sushi we’ve ever tasted. The chef’s omakase menu is a culinary experience like no other.

One other Michelin-rated restaurant that we recommend in Sapporo is Hanakoji Sawada. This traditional Japanese restaurant offers some of the most delicious kaiseki cuisine in the city. The food is beautifully presented and the flavors are exquisite. The restaurant has a cozy and intimate atmosphere, and the attentive and friendly service makes for a truly special dining experience. We highly recommend trying out the chef’s tasting menu, which is a culinary journey through the best of Hokkaido’s seasonal ingredients. A meal at Hanakoji Sawada is a must-try for any foodie visiting Sapporo.

Another Michelin-rated restaurant that we recommend in Sapporo is Moliere, a French restaurant that serves up some of the best cuisine in the city. The food is beautifully presented, and the flavors are incredible.

There are also plenty of things to do in Sapporo outside of the Yuki Matsuri and dining. The city is home to several beautiful parks, including Odori Park and Nakajima Park, which are perfect for a relaxing stroll or picnic. We also recommend visiting the Sapporo Beer Museum, which offers a fascinating look into the history of beer in Japan.

Overall, our trip to Sapporo was a truly magical experience. The city’s winter festivities, delicious cuisine, and beautiful parks and museums made it a truly unforgettable destination. We can’t wait to go back and explore more of this incredible city.
