(gyōzanomise okei)

Gyōzanomise Okei is a hidden gem tucked away in the lively neighbourhood of Iidabashi in Tokyo. This restaurant is known for its delicious gyoza dumplings, which are made using a three-day process to ensure maximum flavour and texture. The owner-chef of Gyōzanomise Okei used to be a regular customer of the restaurant and inherited the shop curtain and recipes when the previous owner decided to close up. He has kept the traditional recipes intact and the flavours going, resulting in an authentic and unforgettable dining experience.

The gyoza dumplings at Gyōzanomise Okei are made by thoroughly blending minced pork, Chinese cabbage and Chinese chives, and wrapping the mixture in homemade dough. This three-day process ensures that the flavours are perfectly balanced and the dumplings are tender and juicy. The dumplings are then grilled on a special iron pan over high heat until they are crisp and golden brown. The aroma of the freshly grilled dumplings is simply irresistible.

The interior of Gyōzanomise Okei is cozy and intimate, with seating for around 20 people. The decor is simple, with a traditional Japanese feel, creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is usually packed with locals and visitors alike, and the friendly staff make you feel right at home.

In addition to the delicious gyoza dumplings, Gyōzanomise Okei also serves a variety of other dishes, including rice bowls, noodles, and small plates. The menu is reasonably priced, making it a great option for a casual lunch or dinner.
